Ephemeral Art
Ephemeral arts are works of wonder created in nature that due to the nature of their being made by Earthen items only last for a few hours to a few days. These works of art, made with leaves, shells, stones, pinecones, feathers, sand, snow, mushrooms, etc- are wholly unique. It is an amazing thing to stumble upon one in the forest or along the seashore. Creating ephemeral arts is meditative and healing. From the gathering of materials all the way through the careful placement of each item, the process itself is the true work of art. It can be a real challenge working with winds blowing your pieces around or the tides threatening to sweep away your work. When creating these pieces, I feel like a bird constructing her nest. It brings joy to onlookers to watch me create these pieces, and I love to hear them whisper, "Look, look, what is she making?" I hope that you too will enjoy these wonders, and maybe someday you'll be lucky to find one on your wanderings.
